Eli's 12 Books Challenge (Age 7/8)

Eli has been challenged to read 12 (non-graphic novel, non-comic) chapter books this year. All year, we'll be recording each book as he finishes it.

1. Moon Over Manifest: *****

A girl named Abilene travels to Manifest because her dad sent her there. While she's in Manifest, she finds some mysteries. Abilene gets her two friends and tries to solve the mysteries. I liked this book because it has adventure and mystery.

2. The Magician's Elephant: ****

A boy named Peter goes to see a fortune teller, and she says, "The elephant will show you the way to your sister." Peter goes to the courthouse where the elephant is being kept and tries to get the elephant out. Will he get the elephant out? I didn't like that the elephant comes in only at the end, and the whole thing is about him finding the elephant.

3. The Nine Pound Hammer: ****

Ray was on a train with other orphans. Then he jumped off the train because he was trying to find his dad. Ray found a medicine show, and they fight the Gog. The Gog is the evil person in the book. He's trying to get Jolie, a siren, because he can use her voice to fill the machine that he's building to control other people.

4. George Brown, Class Clown: Dance Your Pants Off: ****

George is a kid whose dad is in the army, so he has to move a lot. When he gets to one school, he's really sad on the first day, and so after school, his parents take him to an ice cream shop to cheer him up. He saw a shooting star and wished that he could make kids laugh but not get in trouble. But only the first half of his wish came out. He has this thing called the Super Burp where he burps a really loud burp, and he can't control his body. That's how he does all the funny stuff.
