On Vacation

We headed off around 4:00 pm on Friday for the long drive to Tennessee. The boys were amazing - the best they've ever been on a road trip. We arrived at Michael's parents house at 1:00 in the morning, and crashed straight into bed.

The next day, we all got up and drove to the Nashville temple to watch Michael's sister Diana get sealed to her husband and three kids. What a blessing to get to be there...and back in the same temple Michael and I got married in.

After the ceremony, we went out to eat with Michael's family and then drove up to my parent's house in Kentucky. My parents were gone at meetings/stake conference, so we had free range of their backyard.

On Sunday, I drove Michael to the airport to fly to a programming conference in Ohio, and then the rest of us went to stake conference with my parents, but as soon as we got home, Eli started complaining that he didn't feel good. His cousin Amber had thrown up at the restaurant after the sealing on Saturday, and sure enough, he threw up that evening. Today, he seems fine, but Cole is spending the day on the couch with a fever.

I feel bad that the boys are sick, but since they're not too sick, it's actually been very peaceful and I can let them watch TV all day without feeling guilty (and get some vacationing in myself).

cole blogs:i like playing docters!

I like playing with rylan,But best of all DOCTERS!We are talking to eachother in a weird way.

Cole's Out of School...Oh My!

Cole wrapped up his school year with a field day, beach day, and game day this week, and then summer vacation officially began on Thursday. I'm brainstorming ways to keep that kid busy so he doesn't spend too much time moping or being grumpy or bullying his brothers and mom.

On Friday, we hung a string between two fence posts and then hung a sheet over it to make a secret hideout. Then we painted a sign for the hideout. Here are a couple of pictures of the painting, but I haven't taken a picture yet of the finished hideout.

cole blogs:fishing.

hi I am cole. I am fishing! But I didnt catch any.

What Happens When You Take a Vegetarian Fishing

Michael decided that he wanted to go fishing for Memorial Day, so he bought a fishing rod and tacklebox off Craigslist and borrowed a kid size rod from a friend.

I do not enjoy fishing. I am a busy type of person, so fishing feels incredibly boring to me. Plus, I think catching and releasing fish is pure torture, and eating fish is disgusting. But I do enjoy lakes.

Cole and Eli took turns fishing with Michael while I entertained the not-fishing-children by playing in the woods.

Cole demanded that I take a picture of him throwing a rock. This was our third try before we finally got it right. (You never know which way to aim when it comes to Cole throwing...)

(Mom, oh expert photographer, why is this picture so fuzzy looking?)

I have always really loved lakes, and after last weekend, I've decided that we need to spend every weekend at the lake (or at the beach like we did this weekend). Raleigh is really the best place on earth with its great lakes and parks, and two hours from the beach in one direction and two hours from the mountains in the other.
