Rylan has decided to get rid of the tire around his belly by exercising while watching TV.
This video also shows off Rylan's amazing comprehension skills despite the fact that he doesn't speak at all yet. No "Momma," no "Daddy," no nothin'. Since he understands everything we say, I don't think there's anything wrong with his ears (but what do I know?). Personally, I think he's just lazy. Why talk when he gets everything he needs by pointing and grunting?
Michael and I are also secretly hoping that he'll wait to talk until he's three, start talking in full sentences, and then introduce us to the mysterious Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which, who will take us on an amazing adventure through space and time.
I just read a Wrinkle in Time again right before we moved out here to Philly.
ReplyDeleteOne of the best books of all time without a doubt!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have ever read it because I knew you liked it so much and for some reason thought if I read it, I would take something away from you. Is that weird?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Rylan is the reason I could have a job in the future. Kids that don't talk when they should is my profession. Just so ya know.
Kellie - So what do you think? Should I be worried about him? He can understand everything, and he seems very bright like Cole and Eli, he just doesn't talk. He babbles a lot to himself though. And he really likes to make squealing noises.
ReplyDeleteConstantly talk to him. Repetition really is important. Set sometime during the day solely for playing with him. Focus on words like more, want, yours, mine, the things you are playing with, things like that. Focus on sounds. Baby sign really is a genius idea and he is still young enough to learn and utilize it. If he gets what he wants by pointing or grunting and not talking, that is bad!!!
ReplyDeleteBut with your genius kids, it is probably just a phase and my suggestions are a waste of time. He probably can talk like a 5th grader he just doesn't!!!
Oh and I meant to say that if he is making babbling noises, then he is probably fine. But you should still do the stuff I suggested just so that I can feel like my major is worth something and it seems like I know what I am talking about!!!
