That was a situation that needed to be remedied.
It's funny to me that Cole had never even tried pop until a year ago, and here I am letting Rylan have a root beer float. I am surely slacking off as a parent.
The verdict? Just as delicious as Momma said it would be.
Michael and I have had some discussion about what to teach the boys to call carbonated beverages. I say we should embrace our Southern sides and call it Coke. He says we should say soda. I say, where have you ever lived that they call it soda, you pansy. He says just don't call it pop.
What do you think we should call it? Let's have a vote!
Michael's hair sure grows back fast!!! As for the other, what do they call it in Raleigh?
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons that I have a beard is because my hair grows so fast and I hate shaving :)
ReplyDeleteMy co-worker says he prefers "soda" as well. He said "Pop is a person".
I vote for pop. Is that an eastern canadian thing? My kids call it spicy juice.
ReplyDeleteI grew up calling it soda, but quickly converted to calling it Coke when I worked at a southern BBQ restaurant for 3 1/2 yrs ("What kind of Coke do you want?")
ReplyDeleteDefinitely NOT pop for me. I actually heard a kid call it pop recently and I was like, What??? People still call it that? The only people I've heard call it pop was in UT.
And Michael, your hair does grow back quickly!
And that picture or Rylan looks like a combo of John's boys.
Oh, but I think Anna calls it soda. So we must say that more often than coke.
ReplyDeleteJaime and I say High-Fructose-Death-in-a-Can. Actually I think we both say Soda. After living in Kentucky for so many years, I can't ever revert back to Pop. But Coke didn't make sense in Utah and it doesn't make sense in Philly.
ReplyDeleteApparently someone else had this very same debate and they had a lot more free time on their hands. So here it is, broken down by county: soda vs pop vs coke!

As you can see, North Carolina is one confused state. Pennsylvania seems split it half with pop vs soda), Kentucky is split in half between coke and pop, and Tennessee is almost all coke, with a little pop thrown in.
Michael learned to call it "soda" from his old man, and I ain't no pansy.
ReplyDeleteAs a lifelong NC girl I've always called it "soda." Just please don't call it "soft drink." I also like the old Southern way of saying "Co-Cola." It reminds me of my childhood neighbor.
ReplyDeleteTony - Aren't all Californians pansies? :)
ReplyDeleteI know this is a little late, but I call it soda.
